The National Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) has officially certified 50 youths from the Eket/ONNA/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency as safety officers.
The certification came after their successful completion of training in Safety Management, Fire Watch duties, and Authorized Gas Testing (AGT). This training was conducted in collaboration with the National Productivity Centre (NPC).
During the certificate presentation ceremony in Eket, ISPON National President, Engr. Timothy Iwuagwu, urged the youths to view their certification as a “meal ticket” for their future. He also praised Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, the Federal Constituency representative, for sponsoring the training initiative.
Hon. Etteh highlighted that the training was designed to provide youths with skills relevant to the modern industrial and economic environment. He noted that the skills acquired would lay the foundation for successful careers in both the private and public sectors.
The event included remarks from Engr. Ndifreke Inokon, Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, and Aniekan Akpan, former Chairman of Eket Local Government Council. Additionally, ISPON National President Timothy Iwuagwu awarded Hon. Etteh a prestigious safety award in recognition of his dedication to youth empowerment and sustainable development.
