The Edo South Business Forum has called for an investigation into serious allegations of election rigging involving the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the Edo State gubernatorial election in 2024.

These allegations were brought to light by Prince Emmanuel Odigie, a member of the APC’s Integrity Group, who claimed that the presidency is orchestrating a scheme to secure victory for the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

In a statement issued by spokesperson Osazuwa Imafidon, the forum expressed deep concern over these claims, urging security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to thoroughly investigate the matter. Imafidon emphasized the importance of a free, fair, and credible election to protect Edo State’s democracy.

Additionally, the forum condemned recent tribal remarks by APC figures, including Senator Adams Oshiomhole, warning against the use of ethnic divisiveness in the election campaign. The forum stressed that the election should focus on issues and policies rather than tribal sentiments.
