On Thursday morning, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the distribution of sensitive materials for the governorship election scheduled for Saturday. The distribution is taking place at the Central Bank of Nigeria premises on Akpakpava Junction, Ring Road, Benin.
The operation has caused significant traffic disruptions in the area, with only one lane open on the busy road. Vehicles designated for transporting the materials are stationed beside the CBN, and commercial activities have been suspended, limiting bus access to the area.
A large number of journalists, both from print and electronic media, have gathered to cover the event. State Resident Electoral Commissioner Onuoha Anugbum is overseeing the distribution and confirmed to journalists that the process has begun.
