The Police Command in Imo State successfully thwarted an attack by hoodlums on the Njaba Local Government Area Divisional Police Headquarters in Umuakah on Sunday.
According to ASP Henry Okoye, the command’s spokesman, three attackers were neutralized during the operation.
The attackers arrived in three SUVs and launched a violent assault with sporadic gunfire. In response, police operatives quickly took defensive positions and engaged the assailants, resulting in the neutralization of three of them.
The remaining attackers, who were injured, fled into nearby bushes. The police recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun, one AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles: a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a Toyota Venza.
An intense operation led by Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Mr. Aboki Danjuma, is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Okoye praised the bravery of the police operatives and assured the public of the command’s commitment to enhancing internal security and taking decisive actions against threats to public peace.
