Nigerian superstar Asake recently addressed questions about his preference for singing in Yoruba during an Instagram live session following the release of his third album, Lungu Boy. When asked why he predominantly sings in Yoruba, Asake explained that while he can sing in English, he feels more comfortable expressing himself in Yoruba. He encouraged fans to appreciate his music in the language he finds most natural.

During the session, Asake also shared insights into his collaboration with Wizkid on the track “MMS,” revealing that it was a spontaneous addition after Wizkid heard the song and decided to contribute a verse. The track has since set a record for the highest opening day streams on Spotify Nigeria. Asake hinted that while he didn’t include Davido on this album, they have unreleased songs together that may be released in the future.

Asake’s Lungu Boy album continues to break records and comes ahead of his upcoming tour, which will include performances at the O2 Arena and Madison Square Garden, making him only the fourth Nigerian artist to headline the iconic New York venue.
