Nigerian actress Nancy Isime has shared her views on marriage, revealing that unlike many young women who fantasize about their weddings, she is primarily focused on her career and achieving financial independence.
In a recent interview on the Creativitea Live with Lynda podcast, Isime discussed her aspirations, which center around work and financial success rather than marriage.
“I’ve always seen myself working. I say this to a few people but when young girls sit down and daydream about getting married, I never did,” Isime said. She explained that her dreams have always been about working, earning her own money, and being independent.
Isime expressed uncertainty about having a “dream wedding,” stating, “Even if I get married, it will just be a wedding that we both agree at the same time is how we feel and where we are at. If it’s a big wedding, fine, if it’s a small wedding, whatever we feel.”
Reflecting on her upbringing, Isime noted that coming from a humble background where financial constraints were prevalent influenced her mindset. “I’ve always been that child that always saw myself having my own money,” she explained, adding that she grew up in an environment where asking for things was discouraged, which fueled her desire for financial independence.
Isime emphasized her commitment to self-investment and enjoying the lifestyle she has worked for, stating, “That’s why I’m such a believer in spending on myself; I spend on myself so much that nobody can take the position of ‘if not me, you won’t have this life.'”
