The Hisbah Director General, Abba Sufi, has confirmed the arrest and detention of Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties in Jigawa State. Sankara was apprehended in connection with alleged illicit activities involving a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, found in an uncompleted building.
Sufi stated, “We have been having problems with Sankara because he is operating illicit drug centers in the name of hotels, along with prostitution and drug addiction activities.” He indicated that Sankara would be prosecuted on Monday in a competent court of law.
According to reports from Vanguard, Sankara’s arrest followed a complaint filed by Nasir Bulama, the husband of the woman involved. Bulama’s concerns prompted the Hisbah command and other security agencies to launch a surveillance operation.
The surveillance effort culminated in their arrest on Thursday night. Hisbah operatives knocked on the door of the building, and Sankara emerged with his gateman, while Nabegu remained inside a vehicle. The unfolding events have raised significant attention in the region, reflecting ongoing concerns regarding illicit activities tied to public officials.
