HE DOSEN’T SPEAK FOR US – ADEGBORUWA’S DEMAND FOR AN END TO PROTEST IS REJECTED BY ORGANIZERS

Adegboruwa had earlier demanded that the statewide demonstrations halt since demonstrators were being infiltrated by fifth columnists.
The #EndBadGovernance protest organizers have vowed to keep up the countrywide protests until President Bola Tinubu responds to their demands.
On Friday, August 2, 2024, the protest entered its second day, with protests taking place in a number of places throughout the federation, despite the violence, looting, and property destruction that had been documented on the first day.
Speaking on a Channels Television broadcast on Friday, Damilare Adenola, the non-governmental organization “Take It Back Movement’s” director of mobilization, said the protests have demonstrated to Nigerians that they are capable of holding their leaders responsible.

Additionally, he disowned Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a human rights attorney, who had earlier demanded that protests halt because fifth columnists had infiltrated the demonstrations.
Adenola stated that the attorney did not speak for his group, despite the fact that Adegboruwa had written security agencies to request protection for the organizers prior to the rallies.

The young activist emphasized that, in spite of the attorney’s entreaties, the “Take It Back Movement” will not call off the demonstration, which is set to last for ten days.
“Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa does not represent us and is not our attorney. Despite his appearance as the solicitor, he is not hungry. He is a well-respected senior Nigerian advocate. Unlike the folks occupying the streets, he is not hungry, Adenola remarked.

He mentioned that even though their requests have not been met, the demonstrators have sent a message to the current administration.

“We are awaiting a response and action on our demands from the government. And the demonstrations go on till then,” he declared.

Adenola refuted the idea that there was a sponsor for the protests, stating that poverty and hunger were the real sponsors.

If the Federal Government was honest and cared about the suffering of the people, he added, the President would have responded to the demands of the demonstrators by now.
