Democratic White House candidate Kamala Harris will release a medical report on Saturday, aiming to confirm her fitness to serve as president, her campaign announced. This move is intended to place pressure on her Republican rival, Donald Trump, to also disclose his health records ahead of the November 5 presidential election.

An adviser to the 59-year-old U.S. Vice President’s campaign stated that the report would affirm Harris’s physical and mental readiness to effectively carry out the duties of the presidency. The report comes as the campaign seeks to highlight concerns over Trump’s health, particularly given his age of 78 and the fact that he has not shared detailed medical information.

This spotlight on candidates’ health follows President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 White House race in July, passing the torch to Harris after a shaky debate performance raised concerns within the Democratic Party about Biden’s mental acuity. While Trump remains competitive in the polls, aided by his apparent vitality, Harris’s campaign has pointed to recent reports about Trump’s speech patterns and concerns over potential cognitive decline.

Though Trump has repeatedly claimed to be in excellent health, he has not provided a comprehensive medical report. The only public statement about his health in recent years came from his former White House doctor, Ronny Jackson, who, after Trump survived an assassination attempt in July 2023, assured the public that Trump was doing well.
