Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has issued a public apology to Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries, acknowledging her role in defaming him and causing him distress through false allegations made on social media.

The conflict between Abubakar and Apostle Suleman dates back to 2022, following a mysterious illness that the actress claimed was a result of an altercation with the cleric. She also alleged that he broke a promise to marry her.

In January 2023, after multiple warnings, Apostle Suleman filed a defamation lawsuit against Abubakar for N1 billion. The situation escalated in April when a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja ordered her to pay N10 million in damages to the pastor.

In a heartfelt letter shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Abubakar admitted to making false accusations and expressed deep remorse for tarnishing Suleman’s image. She wrote:

“I admit that I made false allegations against you and also regret my actions and the damage I caused to you, your wife, Dr. Lizzy Suleman, your family, and the leaders of Omega Fire Ministry. With this letter, I humbly ask for forgiveness, recognizing that my apology cannot undo the harm, pain, and distress I caused. I ask you to find a place in your heart to forgive me as I was not thinking right then. I’m truly sorry for all the hurts and distress I caused you, your family, and ministry.”

Abubakar expressed hope that her apology would contribute to mending the damage she caused
