Gunmen abducted and killed the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Alhaji Bako Bala, on Wednesday. According to a post on the official Facebook page of Alhaji Zaidu Bala Kofa Sabuwa, the Special Adviser to the Kebbi Governor on Television and Radio, the armed men kidnapped Bala in his hometown, shot him, and abandoned him in a pool of blood.
Alhaji Bako Bala was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, where he unfortunately succumbed to his gunshot wounds on Wednesday.
In a related incident, bandits allegedly kidnapped another individual in Matseri village under Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State and shot a young man, who is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi.
Efforts to reach the Kebbi State Police Command spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, for comments on the incidents were unsuccessful.
Kebbi State has recently witnessed a series of kidnappings for ransom, despite the combined efforts of security forces and the state government to dismantle criminal hideouts and rescue victims
