Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that he doesn’t want to sell midfielder James McAtee this summer transfer window.
Guardiola spoke following Man City’s Community Shield victory over Man United on Saturday.
McAtee, who played for Sheffield United last season on loan, was expected to go on another loan deal this summer.
However, with the sale of Julian Alvarez, McAtee could find himself given more first-team opportunities.
Speaking about McAtee after the Community Shield win over Manchester United, Guardiola said: “I said to Txiki [Man City director]: I don’t want to loan him and I don’t want to sell him because I need his specific ability in small spaces”.
