A group named ‘The Kaduna Citizens Watch for Good Governance’ has filed petitions with the EFCC and ICPC in Kaduna against the former Governor of the state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, and several members of his administration. Victor Duniya, the Chairman of the group, announced this during a press briefing in Kaduna, citing concerns raised by the State House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee’s report on the sourcing and utilization of domestic loans from May 29, 2015, to May 29, 2023.

Duniya highlighted that the petitions urge immediate investigations, arrests, and prosecutions of El-Rufai and his appointees implicated in alleged mismanagement, siphoning, and other financial and administrative irregularities detailed in the committee’s findings. The group stressed that holding accountable those responsible for financial misconduct would serve as a deterrent to other public officials tempted to exploit public resources.

Emphasizing the public’s demand for accountability and justice, Duniya condemned what he described as actions that undermine public trust in democracy. He expressed confidence in the anti-graft agencies’ ability to address corruption effectively, praising the transparency and thoroughness of the ad-hoc committee’s work in facilitating their efforts.
