Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has indicated plans to dissolve the State Executive Council and various boards, acknowledging that both are due for reorganization. While he did not specify an exact timeline for the dissolution, he mentioned his intention to hold a valedictory dinner for cabinet members beforehand.
Speaking during a media interaction on Saturday to commemorate the state’s 37th anniversary, Eno stated, “As a leader, you must understand when to act and when not to act. There is no doubt that boards are due for dissolution, and we will dissolve all of them, whether statutory or non-statutory.”
He emphasized the need for a system rejig 16 months into the administration, assuring EXCO members that the changes would not come as a surprise. “I will hold a valedictory dinner to thank them for their service, as some have been part of the government for three administrations,” he noted.
“We need to ensure we find the right moment for this transition. Since I am at the helm, I believe I know when to take that bend,” Eno concluded.
