Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has vowed to pursue justice for Ismail Muhammad, a 16-year-old boy who was tragically shot and killed by a soldier during a protest in the Samaru community of Zaria. The incident occurred on Tuesday when Nigerian Army troops were deployed to disperse hunger protesters.
In response to the incident, the Nigerian Army has confirmed that the soldier responsible for the shooting has been arrested and is currently in detention as investigations proceed.
Governor Sani has expressed his deep condolences to the family of the deceased. He dispatched a high-powered delegation led by Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security, to visit and offer support to the family. During this visit, the governor personally communicated with Muhammad Hussaini, the father of the victim, and assured him of the administration’s commitment to a thorough and impartial investigation.
The governor emphasized that the administration will rigorously pursue justice and maintain close contact with the family throughout the investigation process. This commitment aims to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future.
