Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State announced that his administration has paid over N14.5 billion towards various pension obligations. This commitment underscores the government’s dedication to ensuring prompt and sustainable payments to employees.
During an interactive meeting with senior officials in Asaba, Oborevwori emphasized his administration’s resolve to make the 2025 budget reflective of community needs across the state. He noted that efforts to address promotion arrears resulted in the payment of approximately N5.5 billion in four tranches.
The governor expressed his commitment to timely salary payments, stating that workers are paid before the end of each month. He also highlighted his support for training initiatives and funding for a public officers’ loan scheme.

In a related development, Commissioner for Economic Planning Mr. Sunny Ekedayen shared plans for the 2025 budget during a Citizens Engagement session. He outlined priorities such as job creation, infrastructure development, and social welfare improvement, emphasizing the importance of citizen participation in shaping the state’s economic agenda.
Ekedayen reassured participants that the budget would focus on agriculture, electricity, and sustained infrastructure development, ensuring that it reflects the actual needs of the communities in Delta State. He reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency and inclusive governance.
