Governor Idris declares Monday public holiday for Islamic new year in Kebbi

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has declared Monday as a public holiday to mark the beginning of the new Islamic calendar, 1st Muharram 1446AH. The announcement was made by the state Commissioner for Establishment, Alhaji Auwal Manu-Dogondaji, in Birnin Kebbi on Friday. The 1st of Muharram, which signifies the Islamic New Year, falls on a Sunday, and the government has decided to shift the public holiday to Monday to acknowledge its significance.

Manu-Dogondaji extended the governor’s congratulations to the Muslim community on the advent of the new Islamic calendar. He urged Muslims to continue their fervent prayers for the peace, security, and prosperity of Kebbi State and the nation.
