At the International Worship Centre in Uyo, Governor Umo Eno, alongside his predecessors, including Obong Victor Attah and Senator Godswill Akpabio, expressed gratitude for the peace and unity in Akwa Ibom State as it marks 37 years since its creation.
During a special inter-denominational thanksgiving service on Sunday, Governor Eno reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering peace and unifying various interests within the state. He emphasized that unity and peace are essential for the state’s progress, stating, “For me, I came in peace, I came as a servant of the people… we share the same heritage and a common heart. We have to stand by each other.”
He acknowledged the collective joy of Akwa Ibomites coming together to worship and thanked God for the good health of the state’s leaders. Eno paid tribute to former Military Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida for creating the state and urged the current generation to embrace their shared identity over divisive interests.
Former governor Obong Attah expressed pride in the state’s rapid growth and commended Governor Eno for his efforts toward unity. Senator Godswill Akpabio, represented by his wife, Mrs. Unoma Akpabio, also prayed for ongoing peace, unity, and prosperity in Akwa Ibom, praising the harmony among traditional rulers across the state’s 31 local government areas.
