Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has issued a directive requiring all civil servants to immediately present their educational certificates and other documents before receiving their October salary. The directive was communicated in a statement signed by Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in Yola on Thursday.
The governor warned that failure to comply with this directive would result in the forfeiture of October salaries until the certificates are submitted. He emphasized that this move aims to restore order and prevent unqualified individuals from occupying positions, thereby denying opportunities to the younger generation.
Gov. Fintiri clarified that the directive is not intended to witch-hunt anyone but to ensure integrity within the system. He assured that no civil servant will be denied their salary if they present their certificates before the end of October.
The statement further outlined the governor’s concerns regarding individuals exploiting system failures to engage in unqualified practices. He reiterated the need to address these issues to make the civil service a space for scholarship and honesty, rather than a refuge for misfits.
