The Gombe State government, led by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, will implement a new national minimum wage of ₦70,000 for its workers. This announcement was made by Deputy Governor Manassah Jatau.
Jatau, who chairs the state’s Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage negotiations, confirmed that the new wage is being finalized and will replace the current ₦10,000 wage award once implemented. This wage award has been in effect since September 2023.
Governor Yahaya is committed to ensuring civil servants in Gombe State benefit from this increase, emphasizing that the new minimum wage is essential. The implementation of the new wage will begin as soon as details are agreed upon.
Yusuf Aish, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Gombe State, noted that negotiations will proceed once the Federal Government approves the new wage table. He encouraged civil servants to remain patient during this process.
