The pitch is a classic: a young celebrity with no climbing experience and minimal training somehow scales Mount Everest, defying the odds.
French YouTuber Ines Benazzouz, known as Inoxtag, has brought this story to life with his documentary titled Kaizen. Released this weekend, the two-hour-plus film chronicles his year of preparation for the ultimate challenge.
The documentary has been a tremendous success, drawing young fans to preview screenings in Paris and racking up over 11 million views on YouTube within the first 24 hours. YouTube described the launch as “undoubtedly one of the biggest in the history” of the platform in France, though an exact ranking was not provided.
At 22 years old, Inoxtag started his online journey with video game content in his mid-teens. His energetic persona has since made him a superstar among young French audiences, with more than eight million subscribers on YouTube and over 10 million followers across various platforms.
In an interview with AFP before the release, Inoxtag shared his passion for adventure. After spending years immersed in video games like Minecraft and Fortnite, he wanted to experience real-world adventures.
Inoxtag’s content is known for its upbeat challenges and environmental consciousness, featuring videos like “30 Seconds to Save a Life” and “Five Days to Walk Across Corsica.”
