The Senior and Junior Staff Association of the Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Association has criticized the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for failing to lift the ban on alcoholic beverages in sachets. The union expressed concerns that the continued enforcement of the ban could lead to the shutdown of more industries, exacerbating Nigeria’s economic challenges.
The National House of Assembly had previously intervened in the issue, urging NAFDAC to lift the ban while implementing stricter regulations and access control measures. Despite this, NAFDAC has maintained its stance, leading to heightened tensions between the regulatory body and industry stakeholders.
