Recent flooding in Jigawa State, Nigeria, has claimed the lives of 16 people and displaced 3,936 individuals. The disaster has destroyed 3,936 houses and submerged 2,744 hectares of farmland, affecting 10 local government areas. The fatalities were caused by building collapses, drowning, and canoe mishaps. The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has responded by providing temporary shelters and distributing relief materials to those affected, while warning that the situation could worsen with continued heavy rainfall.
