Five Arrested in Connection with Murder of Lanre Adebayo

Five male suspects have been apprehended regarding the alleged murder of 46-year-old Lanre Adebayo, a political science graduate from the University of Ilorin. The arrested individuals include the community chairman, two local security guards, and two additional suspects.

The incident occurred on Sunday night in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State. Adebayo was reportedly involved in a heated argument with the local security personnel on his way home, which escalated into violence. Sources indicate that he was brutally attacked and macheted to death around 10:00 p.m.

The suspects were arrested by police operatives on Tuesday and subsequently transferred to the Kwara State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters on Wednesday for further investigation.

Confirming the situation, Kwara State Police Command Spokesperson Ejire Adeyemi Adetoun stated, “The case was reported to command headquarters on Wednesday evening, and the suspects, all males, have been brought in for further interrogation. Investigation is ongoing, and we will brief the press once it is concluded.
