Fireboy has unveiled the tracklist for his upcoming fourth album, Adedamola, set for release on August 29, 2024.
On August 19, 2024, Fireboy announced via social media that his new album would feature collaborations with notable Nigerian artists Lagbaja, Grammy-nominated Afrobeat star Seun Kuti, Afrobeats hitmaker Lojay, and Grammy-winning American singer and songwriter Jon Baptiste.
The 14-track album will also include contributions from Nigerian superstar DJ, musician, and producer Spinall. The inclusion of Lagbaja, who has not released music in over two decades, has particularly excited fans. Lagbaja, known for his influential music in the late 90s and early 2000s, has been largely out of the spotlight, with his last public performance at the 2022 AMVCA.
Fireboy’s choice to collaborate with Grammy Album of the Year winner Jon Baptiste and highly acclaimed Seun Kuti indicates a potential push for global recognition, especially with the album’s release timing just before the August 31 Grammy deadline.
This album comes two years after Fireboy’s third release, Playboy, which featured hits like “Bandana” with Asake. Adedamola, named after Fireboy’s first name, marks a shift from the hedonistic themes of his previous work to more personal and sentimental reflections.
Fans are eagerly anticipating Adedamola, hoping it will reveal a deeper, more personal side of Fireboy, reminiscent of the heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies of his debut album, Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps.
