The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has responded to the concerns raised by the recent decision of the Nigerian Ministry of Interior to scrap the Visa-on-Arrival (VOA) policy. Princess Zahrah Audu, PEBEC’s Director-General, assured the international community and investors that the council is working closely with the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to find a solution that would address both security concerns and the interests of foreign stakeholders.

PEBEC emphasized its commitment to maintaining the VOA policy, which has played a key role in promoting tourism, trade, and investment in Nigeria. The council also expressed its goal to strengthen security measures surrounding the process while continuing to support the ease of doing business in the country. Princess Audu urged the foreign community to remain calm and confident in the government’s ability to resolve the situation through collaboration and dialogue.

This assurance comes after the Minister of Interior announced that the government would discontinue the VOA policy, citing concerns about sustainability and potential security risks. The new regulations would involve pre-arrival clearance from Interpol and other background-check agencies.

How do you think this development will affect foreign investments and tourism in Nigeria?
