Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, has refuted claims linking him to crossdresser Bobrisky, following allegations made by social media critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan. In a viral video, VeryDarkMan accused unnamed EFCC officers of accepting ₦15 million from Bobrisky to dismiss money laundering charges and claimed that Falana sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for ₦10 million.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Falana denied any involvement, stating he has never met or communicated with Bobrisky. He explained that his son, Folarin (popularly known as Falz), received a request for assistance from Bobrisky, who sought ₦3 million for preferential treatment in prison. Falz refused the request, cautioning Bobrisky against seeking illegal favors.

Falana emphasized that he will not file a criminal complaint but will pursue civil proceedings to protect the integrity of his name and that of his son. He clarified that he leads a campaign for decriminalizing freedom of expression in West Africa and is committed to addressing the defamation through civil channels rather than criminal ones.

VeryDarkMan has since issued an apology to Falana, expressing regret for the erroneous claims and acknowledging the senior lawyer’s lack of involvement
