The Federal Executive Council (FEC) met on Monday to celebrate the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in the recent Edo State governorship election. The meeting, presided over by President Bola Tinubu, included congratulations for the people of Edo State and the APC family on their significant achievement, which the party had not experienced in over eight years.
Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), praised President Tinubu’s commitment to free and fair elections, noting that the APC’s success is a reflection of this dedication to democratic principles.
Akume stated, “The election has been adjudged to be free and fair, which is what Mr. President has always stood for. We want to thank you, Mr. President, for being committed to the electoral process and ethos of democracy.”
In addition to the celebrations, the Council observed a minute of silence for the late Mrs. Salome Audu Jankada, a former member of the FEC and Minister of Women Affairs and Youth Development under President Olusegun Obasanjo. She passed away on August 27, 2024.
The meeting also aimed to address various memoranda, with participation from key officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
