“DSS Reports Improved Security in FCT Under Tinubu’s Leadership”
The Department of State Services (DSS) has highlighted significant strides in the security landscape of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) within the first year of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Adamu Gwary, Director of the DSS in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), conveyed this observation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
Gwary commended the tangible impact of the Tinubu-led administration on security, citing a notable reduction in security breaches as evidence of progress. He particularly pointed out the marked improvement since Nyesom Wike assumed office as the FCT Minister in August 2023.
The Director emphasized the decreased frequency of security incidents, contrasting it with previous years where daily reports of various security challenges were commonplace. He highlighted that now, it’s not uncommon for an entire week to pass without any significant security incident.
Gwary underscored the collaborative effort between security agencies and the public, including engagement with traditional rulers who provide valuable intelligence. He noted a decline in reported cases of criminal activities, including the eradication of the phenomenon of theft of manhood that plagued the beginning of Tinubu’s administration.
The successes, according to Gwary, are attributed to the proactive measures taken by the FCT minister, which include robust community engagement initiatives and the provision of necessary logistics and equipment support to security agencies.
While acknowledging the progress made, Gwary also emphasized the ongoing commitment needed to sustain and further improve security in the FCT, recognizing that challenges persist despite the positive developments.
