The family of Mr. Boris Ledum Ndorbu, one of the victims of the tragic Sikorsky SK76 helicopter crash operated by East Wind Aviation last Thursday, is urgently seeking the recovery of his body for a proper burial. Mr. Ndorbu was among the crew members en route to work for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) when the helicopter went down.

His son, Mr. Ledum Light, shared his distressing experience, stating, “I received a call from his employer that afternoon around 3 p.m., informing us of the crash. It was devastating. I had just spoken with my father that morning; he was healthy, sound, and there were no signs of any danger.”

Despite ongoing recovery efforts, Mr. Ndorbu’s body remains missing. “To our knowledge, only three bodies have been recovered, and my father’s is not among them,” Mr. Light noted. He expressed concerns about the effectiveness of the search efforts, emphasizing that “it seems divers are the primary resource deployed, but we believe more advanced infrastructure could assist in locating the bodies.”

Recalling their last conversation, Mr. Light said, “We spoke early that morning. He confirmed he’d received a package I sent home. He mentioned they were at the muster point, preparing to board the helicopter.” The family is now solely focused on bringing Mr. Ndorbu’s body home for closure. “Our primary concern is to recover his body. It’s what’s most precious to us now. We call on relevant authorities to do everything possible to ensure he’s found.”

Mrs. Mbet Ledum, Mr. Ndorbu’s wife, echoed the family’s plea, stating, “We just want to see him, whether dead or alive. He told us he was going to work, and we want him back home. That’s our only priority now.”

The Ndorbu family, along with others affected by the tragedy, continues to call for swift action to retrieve the missing bodies and provide comfort to grieving loved ones, highlighting the urgent need for advanced recovery efforts to ensure proper closure for the victims’ families.
