Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has defiantly rejected rumors surrounding his future, labeling them as “fairy tales and lies.” Despite being under pressure after overseeing the club’s worst start to a top-flight season since 1989-90, Ten Hag maintains he is not at risk of being sacked.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash with Brentford, United sits in 14th place in the Premier League, having only won two out of seven league matches this season. With five consecutive winless games in all competitions, speculation has mounted about his future, and Brentford’s manager, Thomas Frank, has been linked as a potential replacement.
Ten Hag, however, remains confident that he retains the support of United’s co-owner Jim Ratcliffe and key club figures. Addressing the media, he emphasized that internal discussions at the club are focused on turning things around and not on his potential dismissal.
“The noise is only coming from some of you in the media, creating stories and fairy tales, and bringing lies,” Ten Hag stated. He reiterated that, despite the club’s current struggles, they are sticking to their strategy and remain convinced they will achieve success.
Another poor result against Brentford could add to the mounting pressure on Ten Hag, with crucial fixtures ahead against Fenerbahce in the Europa League and West Ham in the Premier League.
