Chelsea captain, Reece James, will miss the start of the Premier League next season through suspension.
The England defender was shown a straight red card during their 2-1 win away at Brighton for kicking out at Joao Pedro.
James was sent off only 19 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Referee Michael Salisbury was advised to check the pitchside monitor following VAR intervention, where he brandished James with a straight red card.
It is his second sending off this season and he will now miss four matches.
That will see him ruled out of the final Premier League clash of the campaign against Bournemouth on Sunday, and the first three next term.
