The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has urged residents to ignore the Monday and Tuesday sit-at-home order circulating in a viral video. In a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the police warned that any attempts to disrupt peace and security in the state would be met with “decisive and ruthless action.”

Uzuegbu described the sit-at-home order as “baseless, unwarranted, and a deliberate attempt to incite fear and unrest.” He emphasized that Enugu State has moved beyond such criminally motivated and illegal orders, which he claimed are aimed at destabilizing the social, economic, and psychological well-being of the populace under the guise of secessionist agitations.

He encouraged citizens to continue their lawful activities without fear or intimidation, assuring them that the police and other security agencies are prepared to maintain peace and security throughout the state. The commissioner also urged parents and guardians to warn their children against engaging in activities that could jeopardize the peace and security of the community, noting that the legal consequences of such actions could be severe.

Uzuegbu called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station. For emergencies, the public can contact the command using the provided phone numbers or email address.
