ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES REPORT ANOTHER NATIONAL GRID COLLAPSE

Electricity distribution companies (DisCos) have reported a national grid collapse, announcing the incident in separate statements on Tuesday. This announcement comes less than 24 hours after a similar event led to a nationwide blackout on Monday.

According to a statement from the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), the latest grid collapse occurred at 6:58 PM. Following this, Eko Disco issued a statement confirming a system collapse at 09:17 hours on Tuesday, resulting in a loss of power supply across its network. They noted, “We are currently working with our partners as we hope for speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as power supply is restored.”

Similarly, Ikeja Electric confirmed experiencing a system outage at the same time, 09:17 hours, impacting supply within their network. They assured customers that efforts are underway, collaborating with partners and stakeholders to restore electricity as quickly as possible.
