Ahead of the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State, stakeholder Mr. Nosa Osaikhuiwu has urged voters to support Labour Party candidate Mr. Olumide Akpata.
Osaikhuiwu criticized the dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, warning that not electing the right candidate could exacerbate the existing hardships. He highlighted issues such as poverty, power outages, and lack of job opportunities, which he attributed to the failures of the PDP and APC.
In his statement to Vanguard, Osaikhuiwu noted, “The people of Edo State are facing severe economic and political challenges, including hyperinflation, insecurity, and infrastructural deficiencies. The state has endured these conditions under the leadership of the PDP and APC, which have both failed to meet their promises.”
He further argued that the current political landscape, dominated by the PDP and APC, has led to widespread corruption and mismanagement. Osaikhuiwu called for a change, emphasizing that the upcoming election is a chance for the people of Edo State to address the failures of the past 24 years of APC and PDP rule.
He continued, “The last two decades have shown that the APC and PDP have provided nothing but empty promises and corruption. The people of Edo State have endured enough and must now make a decisive choice for a better future.”
Osaikhuiwu also criticized the revolving door of politicians between parties, describing them as opportunists who perpetuate corruption for personal gain. He urged voters to support Olumide Akpata and the Labour Party as a means to break away from the cycle of failed leadership and bring about meaningful change in Edo State.
