Hon. Bello Isah Ambarurah, a member of the National Assembly representing Gwadabawa/Illela federal constituency in Sokoto State, emphasized the pivotal role of education in national development during a ceremony presenting admission letters to 100 indigenes of Sokoto East Senatorial District. These students are set to study in India, sponsored by Senator Ibrahim Lamido (APC).
Ambarurah highlighted that literacy is fundamental for societal development, describing education as a key driver of progress and a powerful tool for poverty reduction, health improvement, gender equality, and societal stability. He stressed the importance of investing in education to build human capital and combat extreme poverty.
He noted the significant strides developing countries have made in increasing classroom attendance, underscoring the necessity of equipping children with socio-emotional, technical, and digital skills for success in today’s world.
At the presentation ceremony held at the Command Guest House in Sokoto, Alhaji Kabiru Shehu Sarkin Fulani, representing Senator Ibrahim Lamido and the sole administrator of Goronyo local government, urged the beneficiaries to excel in their studies and serve as positive representatives of Sokoto State and Nigeria. Sarkin Fulani reminded the students of the unique opportunity they have been given and the comprehensive support provided by Senator Lamido, including tuition, accommodation, and feeding. He assured ongoing evaluation of their performance to ensure the investment in their education yields results and encouraged them to pray for the senator’s continued success.
Hon. Sani Alhaji Yakubu also advised the students to make the most of the opportunity provided by Senator Lamido, noting that this initiative is unprecedented in Sokoto East since the advent of democracy.
