Edo Queens dedicate President Federation Cup win to Governor Obaseki
Nigeria Women Football League side, Edo Queens, have dedicated their President Federation Cup Round of 32 victory to the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki and the First Lady, Betsy Obaseki.
Edo Queens thrashed Kada Queens 8-2 at the Area 3 Sports Complex, Abuja, on Wednesday.
Essien Emem and Abdulrasheed Mariam scored a brace each in the game.
Abideen Suliat, Godwin Eunice, Kafayat Mafisere and Goodness Osigwe goals, completed the bashing.
“We promised the governor and our first lady that we are going to redouble our efforts to bring laurels to the state, and this is the way to reciprocate government’s kind gesture,” Edo Queens club captain Abiden Suliyat stated.
“We have never had it so good until Governor Obaseki came onboard as our governor.
“Just about two weeks ago, we qualified for Super Six after pulling a 1-1 draw with champions Delta Queens on the last day of the regular season and our mother the first lady organized a grand reception for us.
“That honour done us is a great motivation and will propel us to higher performance at the Super Six, which is scheduled to begin on May 15. This is just the beginning of resounding results.
“It is not out of place to say that the huge investment and motivation from Edo State Government to the Edo Queens are yielding fruits as the girls have started reciprocating the state government’s kind gesture.
