The Edo House of Assembly has expressed disapproval of the suspension of the Edo State Security Network (ESSN) by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. The Assembly contends that the ESSN was established in accordance with the Federal Constitution and asserts that only a court has the legal authority to order its suspension or ban. Charity Aiguobarueghian, the Majority Leader, underscored the ESSN’s critical role in providing security, particularly in rural areas, and highlighted its effectiveness during the ENDSARS protests. She affirmed that the Edo State House of Assembly holds constitutional authority over state security matters and that the network will persist in its operations despite the suspension.
