EDO GOVERNOR-ELECT AND DEPUTY KNEEL TO GREET PRESIDENT TINUBU

Fresh from their victory in the controversial September 21, 2024 election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor-elect of Edo State, and deputy governor-elect, Dennis Idahosa, knelt to greet President Bola Tinubu.

On September 26, 2024, they presented their certificates of return at the Presidential Villa, accompanied by the incumbent deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, and other APC leaders. A video shared by Dada Olusegun, the President’s Social Media Assistant, shows the duo shaking hands with Tinubu while kneeling, as Shaibu and other party members similarly paid their respects.

Okpebholo won with 291,667 votes, defeating his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party finished third with 22,763 votes
