EBONYI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY APPROVES AIRCRAFT PURCHASE FOR CHUBA OKADIGBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Ebonyi State House of Assembly has granted approval for the state government’s proposal to acquire aircraft for services at Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Ezza South Local Government Area. This decision also encompasses revenue recovery measures from utility infrastructure and telecom taxes, along with a contract finance facility.

The assembly has also approved the engagement of Boards LTD as a consultant for the NG-CARE Programme. Speaker Rt. Hon Chief Moses Ije Odunwa highlighted the importance of establishing a government-owned airline to enhance operations at Onueke airport and to boost revenue from telecom taxes.

The motion for approval was presented by House Leader Hon Kingsley Ikoro, who argued that the aircraft would significantly benefit the state’s cargo airport. The motion, seconded by Hon Goodluck Obinna Mbam, was passed unanimously. The Speaker has instructed the Clerk of the House to notify State Governor Rt. Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of the assembly’s decision.
