EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT AWAITS REPORT ON IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE

The Ebonyi State Government announced on Thursday that it is awaiting a report from relevant authorities concerning the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage in the state.

Government’s Commitment to Implementation

In a statement, Engr Jude Okpor, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, assured civil servants that once the report is received, the implementation of the new wage will begin promptly. He emphasized that all necessary ministries and agencies are working together to align with Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s directive.

Detailed Cost Assessment Underway

Okpor explained that the Head of Service has been tasked with evaluating the cost implications of implementing the new wage. Governor Nwifuru has instructed that the process be concluded before the end of September 2024, with implementation expected to commence in the same month.

Awaiting Relevant Report

The Commissioner noted that the state is still waiting for the relevant authorities to submit their report. He expressed confidence that the report will be prioritized and expects that the implementation process will move forward soon.
