Dr. Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, has reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of senior citizens in Nigeria.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ikoro-Ekiti, Alake emphasized that Tinubu is committed to providing dignity and a new lease of life for elderly citizens as part of his Renewed Hope Mantra.
Alake highlighted that senior citizens are a central focus in the Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that 1,200 bags of rice were distributed to the elderly in Ekiti, regardless of political affiliation, as a demonstration of the president’s caring approach.
He explained that this intervention is meant to support elderly citizens who may struggle to access welfare goods and assured that future initiatives will address other vulnerable groups, including widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, and students.
Alake also emphasized the collective responsibility to care for the elderly and the importance of involving high net worth individuals, corporate organizations, and NGOs in these efforts. He called on Ekiti residents to contribute to alleviating hunger and poverty in the state.
