A key focus of the report is the pilot programme that delivered foundational and digital skills to 4,000 learners aged 5 to 20 in eight IDP camps in Abuja and Nasarawa states.

FASTRACK PROGRAMME MAKES SIGNIFICANT IMPACT

The report, titled “Transforming Education for Lifelong Learning,” underscores the success of the FASTRACK programme, which has reached over 120 communities nationwide. The programme’s impact is amplified through strategic government partnerships.

KEY PARTNERSHIPS AND EXPANSION

Prince Gideon Olanrewaju, Executive Director of AREAi, highlighted the importance of government collaboration in scaling the programme’s impact. AREAi secured a partnership with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and IDPs to implement foundational learning in IDP camps.

PILOT PROGRAMME SUCCESS

Simeon Edidiong, Director of AREAi Programmes, reported that the pilot programme successfully equipped 4,000 learners with essential skills. This initiative has set the stage for expanding the programme across IDP camps in all 36 Nigerian states.

IMPROVEMENTS IN LITERACY AND NUMERACY

The FASTRACK programme has achieved a 65% improvement in literacy and numeracy among participants. Funmilola Ahmadu Bamidele, Senior Programme Manager, noted that the programme has not only enhanced academic skills but also improved communication and arithmetic abilities.

BROADER IMPACT

The FASTRACK programme has also had significant social and emotional benefits. It aims to increase literacy and numeracy proficiency and boost enrolment rates, providing children with the skills needed to re-enrol in formal education or contribute effectively to their communities.
