The Deputy Controller of the Maximum Correctional Center in Kirikiri, Lagos, Michael Anugwa, confirmed on Monday that crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was housed in a separate cell during his detention. This admission came during a session with the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions.
The controversy arose after influencer Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, claimed in a video that Bobrisky was given special treatment, alleging that he was held in an apartment outside the correctional facility. Anugwa refuted this, stating that Bobrisky was never held outside the facility and was processed into the center on April 13, 2024, after his conviction.
Anugwa explained that Bobrisky was initially held in the Medium Correctional Center for ten days but was later transferred to the Maximum facility because he refused to eat the prison food and applied for self-feeding, a request that was approved. The crossdresser was placed in a separate cell due to his “special features like breasts,” which made it inappropriate to place him in the general male population.
While in custody, Bobrisky had a total of 39 visitors and nominated two individuals, Ogunleye Abiola and Moji Ogunleye, to bring him food.
