Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed his condolences to the family of a pupil who tragically died in a building collapse at Eghereka Primary School in Ewu Town, Ughelli South Local Government Area. The Governor described the incident as “most unfortunate” in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon.

The report detailed that a block of six classrooms, which had been unused for over a decade, collapsed due to heavy rain. The collapse resulted in the death of a primary 2 pupil, Ojiyovwin Salvation, and left three other students injured.

Governor Oborevwori extended his sympathies to the family of the deceased pupil, as well as to the school’s management, staff, and the injured students. He praised the swift response efforts that facilitated the quick rescue of the injured pupils.

Local Government Council Chairman, Dr. Lucky Avweromre, has visited the site to provide necessary support to the victims of the collapse and to comfort the family of the deceased pupil.

In his statement, the Governor acknowledged that words are inadequate to console the grieving family but prayed that God would grant them, along with the school and the community, the strength to bear this profound loss. He also prayed for God’s comforting presence during these challenging times.
