DEFENCE MINISTER ORDERS INVESTIGATION INTO NIGERIAN NAVY OFFICER’S DETENTION

Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has directed an immediate investigation into the detention of Seaman Abbas Haruna, a Nigerian Navy officer, following an interview with Haruna’s wife, Mrs. Hussaina Haruna, and calls for justice.

In a statement by Ahmad Dan-Wudil, Personal Assistant on Media, Matawalle emphasized his commitment to ensuring justice and fairness. He stated, “Our armed forces are built on honour, discipline, and justice. No officer serving this nation should face undue hardship or wrongful treatment.”

Matawalle assured a thorough investigation, involving all relevant authorities, including the Nigerian Navy, to uncover the truth and ensure justice. He also stressed that Seaman Haruna’s rights will be protected, and any breach of protocol will be swiftly addressed.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, urging the public to remain calm and patient as the investigation unfolds.
