In a legal move at the Lagos State High Court, Nigerian singer Davido has filed for joint custody of his daughter Imade, born to Sophia Momodu in 2015. The suit, designated LD/1587PMC/2024, outlines Davido’s desire for “unfettered and unrestricted access” to his daughter. Filed by his legal team led by Dr. Olaniyi Arije and Okey Barrah, Davido highlights several points regarding his contributions and interactions with Sophia Momodu:

1. **Financial Support**: Davido asserts that he has consistently covered Imade’s educational expenses, including school fees and related costs, to ensure she receives a quality education.

2. **Accommodation Offers**: He claims to have purchased an apartment in a secure gated community at Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, for Sophia and Imade. However, Sophia allegedly declined the offer and requested an annual payment of N5,000,000 for a rented accommodation instead.

3. **Transportation**: Davido states that he provided vehicles, including a Range Rover Sport and later a Highlander SUV, to cater to Imade’s transportation needs. He accuses Sophia of not informing him promptly when one of the vehicles needed repairs.

4. **Alleged Demands**: Davido accuses Sophia of making unreasonable demands that aim to frustrate him despite his efforts to support their daughter. He describes these demands as “outlandish and Utopian.”

Davido’s legal action seeks to formalize joint custody arrangements, allowing him more involvement in Imade’s upbringing. The suit underscores his commitment to being an active parent and provider for his daughter, amidst challenges in co-parenting with Sophia Momodu.
