Nigerian megastar Davido has added a new title to his impressive list of monikers, proclaiming himself the “King of Nigeria” during a recent encounter with a Saudi Prince.

The acclaimed artist, a leading figure in the global expansion of Afrobeats, was recently spotted in Paris on September 5, 2024. During his time there, he was introduced to a fan who identified himself as a Prince from Saudi Arabia. In a playful yet confident response, Davido referred to himself as the “King of Nigeria” before posing for a photo with the Prince.

The video of this encounter has quickly garnered attention on social media. Davido also mentioned that he is scheduled to perform in Saudi Arabia later this year.

This new title adds to Davido’s existing list of nicknames, including “OBO (Omo Baba Olowo)”—a nod to his 2012 hit single “Dami Duro,” “Baddest,” and “001,” which underscore his superstar status and dominance in the Afrobeats genre.

2024 has been a notable year for Davido, who recently received three Grammy nominations for the 66th Grammys. His new single, “Joy,” a collaboration with five-time Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo, was released on August 30, just before the submission deadline for the 67th Grammys.

Fans eagerly await Davido’s upcoming fifth project, which he has hinted will be his best yet, promising to further solidify his place in the music industry.
