Nigerian music superstar Davido has teamed up with fast-rising British-Nigerian singer Darkoo for a captivating new track titled “Right Now,” released on October 11, 2024. This mid-tempo record seamlessly blends R&B melodies with Afrobeats elements, showcasing both artists wearing their hearts on their sleeves.
The song follows Darkoo’s recent success with the remix of her hit single “Favourite Girl,” featuring Rema, further solidifying her rising profile in the UK Afrobeats scene. Davido, known for his impactful collaborations this year, adds another gem to his repertoire, having previously delivered guest verses for artists such as BoyPee, Hyce, and Brown Joel on the “Ogechi” remix, as well as “Joy” alongside Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo.
Notably, the track features contributions from Jamaican star Rvssian, who is recognized for his unique talent and previous collaborations within the Afrobeats genre, including a hit single with Nigerian Grammy-nominated artist Ayra Starr titled “Santa.”
Since her emergence on the mainstream scene, Darkoo has become a prominent figure in the UK Afrobeats landscape. Her participation in the remix of Camidoh’s smash hit “Sugarcane” in 2022, along with her appearance on the remix of Tion Wayne’s “Body,” has paved the way for her anticipated debut album, set to be released in the coming months.
