Cyriel Dessers has turned down a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) club Atlanta United, despite negotiations involving a $6 million transfer fee. According to the Daily Record, Dessers, who has been a standout performer for Rangers, opted not to join the MLS outfit.
The 29-year-old Nigerian striker enjoyed a successful debut season with Rangers, scoring 22 goals across all competitions in the 2023/24 season. Signed from Italian club Cremonese last summer, Dessers has continued his strong form into the new season, already netting three goals.
Dessers’ decision to reject the Atlanta United offer means that the MLS club will need to look elsewhere to strengthen their attacking options. Meanwhile, Dessers remains a key player for Rangers as they look to build on their recent successes.
